Ox Notes: October 24, 2007

Backstage reports from TV Guide and People focused on the lingering anxiety surrounding Marie Osmond's fainting spell on Monday night's Dancing with the Stars Performance Show. For Marie's part, she doesn't seem concerned, although she appreciated Jonathan Roberts' assurances that things could be worse: "Of course – he couldn’t come up with anything that would actually be worse – but he thinks there’s got to be something!"

According to Jennie Garth's blog, she was really keen on the canary yellow dress she wore this week.

The cast of the newest season of The Amazing Race has been announced, and it includes a couple of dating Goths.

In order to focus on avoiding a strike, the Writers Guild of America has stopped trying to unionize reality TV show writers. Reality shows may be where many of the writers end up working in the event of a strike.

Also ahead of the strike, ABC has ordered more episodes of Pushing Daisies, and CBS has ordered more Moonlight.

The Chicago Tribune has the scoop on how you can get free tickets to a screening of the SciFi Channel movie Battlestar Galactica: Razor.

And November 4 starts a week of "green" programming on NBC. In addition to news specials, the network worked environmental themes into their scripted programs in some creative ways. My favorite is Alec Baldwin's character on 30 Rock developing an obnoxious environmental mascot called Greenzo. He's no substitute for the peacock.
